Celebrate the Sandy River!

2-MarmotExplosion-DonRyan

Happy Sandyversary! Ten years ago this month, the Sandy flowed free for the first time in nearly a century following removal of Marmot dam. We’ll be celebrating that momentous occasion, and our Council’s 20th anniversary on Thursday October 19th, at the Riverview Restaurant in Troutdale.

Join us to celebrate a decade of collaboration and commitment to the Sandy’s future as a wild salmon stronghold in Portland’s largest metropolitan area. We’ll have appetizers, drinks, and desserts, and a silent auction. Tickets are available here or from the link below.

We”ll also be reviewing the free-flowing Sandy’ first decade of restoration, a 10-year State of the Sandy report that explores actions to restore habitat in the Sandy, trends in salmon and steelhead populations, and how people are affecting the watershed.

For more on the story of dam removal on the Sandy, take a look at the Intertwine’s Outside Voice post, 10-years of a Free-Flowing Sandy River.
