CANCELLED: Sandy River Delta Eco-Blitz

May 16, 2020

  • « CANCELLED: Celebrate Earth Day in Beaver Creek Canyon
  • May Council Meeting (Virtual) »

With heavy hearts, we are cancelling the Sandy River Delta Eco-Blitz. Keep an eye out for ways to engage in community science in alternative ways! Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you next time.

Join us on May 16th for the largest regional Eco-Blitz!

All volunteers are welcome at this family friendly event. We will act as community scientists surveying the Delta to map and identify the hundreds of species living there. You get to choose which native species group you gather information about: whether you’re interested in animal tracks, native plants, amphibians, or mammals, you’re bound to find, and learn, something new! Professional scientists will support groups of volunteers to document all findings using the iNaturalist app. Sign up for just one session or stay for the whole event. All sessions are beginner and family friendly–no experience in species identification is needed. Please let us know if you would like to be in a Spanish speaking group.*

We will provide snacks and warm beverages in the morning and afternoon. You are invited to bring a bagged lunch and stay for lunch time. Please wear long pants and close toed shoes. Make sure to bring layers for rainy or cold weather, as well as a reusable water bottle and mug for coffee or tea. If you would like to use the free iNaturalist app on your smart phone at this event, please download this free app before you arrive. Click here for download information.

The Sandy River Delta Eco-Blitz is part of a region wide, ongoing Eco-Blitz Series to find and collect data on the Portland-Vancouver metro area’s wildlife.
